You can work your way up to wearing them in athletic shoes and/or during your workout if that is comfortable for your body.

Love them, first time using them I felt like my picky toe was way out and if I moved the wrong way I'd stub it on something while wearing them. Also first time or 2 there was a little discomfort on my pinky toe and the one next to it. Definitely ease your way.
